Roblox shared a lot of creator updates in the first week of October. Highlights from the Roblox Developer Forum:
- Creator Roadmap 2026: Fall Update (October 3), Roblox’s plan for what is coming next for creators.
- Animation: a Studio beta for state machines and Luau expressions in animation graphs.
- Avatar items: you can now create IP-based avatar items with Marketplace licenses.
- Tools: new texture generation tools, Segment Any Mesh and image previews in Studio.
- Engine: a Collision Summaries API, frustum streaming and better collision geometry workflows.
- Payments: a new webhook that notifies you when a purchase is refunded.
- Text-to-speech: automatic translation for text-to-speech.
- Showdown Cup is a competition inside the Showdown experience by SuperGaming. It runs in that experience and is not a Roblox-wide tournament.
- New fall games such as Prime Heroes, Octane and Starforged are listed for October. Launch dates were not confirmed when we wrote this, so check each game’s page.

- September 1: Roblox turned 20.
- RDC 2026: the Roblox Developer Conference took place this month. New creator features included Animation Packs, new default movements such as sprinting and crouching, and the option to sell licensed IP in games.
- The Hunt: Roblox 20 was a platform-wide anniversary event that ran from September 17 to 28. It has ended, so its rewards can no longer be claimed.
- Roblox Plus: profile frames for subscribers, plus a free exclusive avatar item during the event.
- Other: new Freecam features and a “Classic” app theme with the old logo.
- August 6: a new Account Status page where you can see rule violations.
- August 10: Community Tiers were introduced (Basic, Social and Professional).
- August 12: real-time monitoring now removes players with inappropriate avatars, and games can be pinned to your phone’s home screen.
- August 17: avatar body validation to limit size-based advantages.
- August 19: hundreds of thousands of bot accounts were banned.
- August 26: friend and global rankings on in-game leaderboards.
- August 27: Classmates, a feature for users aged 13 to 24.
- August 31: emissive (glowing) avatar items launched.
- EU: the EU designated Roblox a Very Large Online Platform under the Digital Services Act.
- July 3: a new process for reporting games and users, with status notifications.
- July 9: Server Authority was released to all creators.
- July 16: Build, an AI tool that creates games from text prompts.
- July 22: custom avatar Backgrounds began rolling out.
- July 23: a separate volume setting for voice chat.
- July 29: Proactive Streaming for smoother gameplay.
- July 30: Roblox reported its second quarter results.
Age-based accounts became available worldwide on June 16: Roblox Kids (under 9), Roblox Select (9 to 15) and standard Roblox (16 and older). They connect game access, chat features and parental controls more closely to a player’s age. Read more in the Roblox newsroom.
- April: Roblox announced the Roblox Plus subscription and the age-based Kids and Select accounts. Roblox also launched on PlayStation 5 (April 14).
- May: Roblox Plus replaced Roblox Premium.
Age verification became required to chat on Roblox worldwide, after an earlier rollout in Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands in December 2025. See the Developer Forum update from February 6.
