# Server rules

> The rules for the Novam Discord and community.

These rules keep our community safe and fun. Staff can act on anything that harms the community, even if it is not listed. Not knowing the rules is not an excuse.

## Summary

* Be respectful. No harassment, hate speech, discrimination or threats.
* No spam, advertising or self-promotion without permission.
* No NSFW, graphic or illegal content.
* No scamming, trading fraud or account selling.
* Follow Discord's [Terms of Service](https://discord.com/terms) and Roblox's [Community Standards](https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203313410).
* Do not impersonate staff or members.
* Listen to staff. Dispute decisions through the [contact form](https://forms.novamstudios.com/r/contact), not in public chat.

## Consequences

Depending on severity: warning, timeout, kick, or ban. Serious cases such as scamming lead to a permanent ban. You can ask for a review: see [ban appeals](/support/appeals).
